A Sto-Rox student-athlete who recently graduated with the Class of 2025 was honored this week as part of the Steelers Girls Flag (Football) All-Peer Team. Javylah Macon is one of seven local high school flag football players who were named to the team in May.

On Tuesday, Macon and other members of the All-Peer team were recognized at a Steelers practice session at the team’s headquarters on Pittsburgh’s South Side. Each player received a $1,000 award for their school’s athletic program.

The All-Peer Team concept was developed by the Steelers and the Mentoring Partnership to honor student athletes who support their peers and set an example on and off the field. This year, with support from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Giant Eagle and Spread Group, the Girls Flag All-Peer Team was created.

Javylah, an honor roll student at Sto-Rox, was selected for being a “dedicated leader” who “exemplifies leadership and sportsmanship as the captain of the flag football team,” according to the May announcement by the Steelers. “She has built a culture and environment of trust, encouragement and respect amongst the Sto-Rox flag football team by helping every teammate, making sure they feel included.”

The district once again congratulates Javylah and the entire All-Peer team!
