County Mental Health Services Parent Training Resources

Districts are required to provide parent trainings throughout the school year related to special education topics. These materials provide an overview of County Mental Health Services and explain how families can access available supports for their child.

Topics include Behavioral Health teams in schools, the Continuum of Care for Youth Mental Health, Case Consults, communication across DHS offices, and support available at home.

Parent Training: Sensory Processing

Parents and guardians are invited to participate in an upcoming virtual training session on Tuesday, April 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., focused on supporting student success in the classroom, presented by Jill Smolenski, MOT, OTR. Those interested in attending should register.

Work Permits for Minors

Applications for minor work permits may appear before a school-issuing officer virtually or in person, according to Act 117 of 2022. This is a permanent change that was made after the Covid-19 pandemic led the state to suspend the in-person appearance requirement in March of 2020.
