School Safety

Our Mission: Keeping Sto-Rox Safe

Security is one of the highest priorities for Sto-Rox School District. We are committed to keeping students and staff safe in our classrooms. Our reasoning is simple: If students don’t feel safe at school, they won’t be able to learn very well. We will continue to update this portion of the website with bulletins on security issues and any other safety concerns, so please check back for updates.

New For 2023-2024

We are pleased to bring on the Signal security firm for the 2023-2024 school year. We believe they will continue the mission outlined by the district and pursued by The Commission last school year. We want our security professionals to bond with and relate to our students. They’re not just here to protect and serve, but to be part of the Sto-Rox community.

Safe Passage Program

The Safe Passage program was developed with several community partners to keep students safe heading home from Sto-Rox schools. Carnegie Mellon University has developed five routes where volunteers will shepherd students and respond to any issues that may arise. In partnership with groups including Allegheny Intermediate Unit and Communities in Schools of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County it’s a community-based approach that will give students and their families peace of mind.
