The Sto-Rox Primary Center is excited to announce the opening of its brand-new playground, built this spring through a special community partnership.
The project was made possible by the Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania (BGCWPA) with generous support from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Marc-André Fleury and his family, and 84 Lumber. This new space—dedicated as the Mike Hepler Memorial Playground—honors the memory of Mike Hepler and his legacy of service to youth in the McKees Rocks community.
The playground includes updated equipment, a safe poured rubber surface, and a secure fence. These improvements not only enhance play opportunities for students but also reduce long-term maintenance needs for the district.
Special thanks also go to Chris Jeffreys and Jeffrey Associates, the company that moved the playground. Their flexibility and willingness to work through timing changes helped make the project a success.
The district is grateful for the support of all partners and looks forward to working together to host a ribbon-cutting event in the near future. In the meantime, students are already enjoying the new space—laughing, playing, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
