Meet Tony Paull, Sto-Rox’s Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction

For Tony Paull, joining Sto-Rox as the Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction feels like home. As a Pittsburgh native and an experienced teacher and school leader of more than 20 years, the Sto-Rox community is just as excited to bring him on to lead this new position.

Mr. Paull began his career as a science teacher, spending 13 years in the classroom in Florida and Beaver Falls before stepping into school leadership. His administrative experience includes serving as principal at West Greene Middle-Senior High School and South Side High School, where he led for 14 years. Most recently, he served as Director of Curriculum and Assessment at South Side for three years.

Mr. Paull’s path to education was shaped early by teachers and coaches who made learning enjoyable and rewarding. Those experiences inspired him to create the same positive impact for others, and that motivation continues to drive him forward in his new role today. He describes each day in education as a fresh opportunity to positively influence a young person’s future.

In his first year at Sto-Rox, Mr. Paull has set two top priorities: building positive relationships with staff, students, and families, and establishing a written K-12 curriculum. Looking forward, he envisions the implementation of a district-wide Instructional Framework that emphasizes curriculum, assessment, instructional strategies, and a culture of high expectations. This framework, he explains, will ensure teaching is engaging and aligned, assessments are meaningful, and instruction is rooted in best practices.

At the heart of his approach is collaboration. Mr. Paull believes progress happens when educators, families, and students move forward together with a shared purpose. He is committed to being visible and approachable while fostering a culture of teamwork and collective achievement across the district.

Beyond his role in education, Mr. Paull brings a creative energy to the Sto-Rox community. A musician at heart, he often performs guitar and vocals at venues around Pittsburgh, sharing another passion that keeps him connected to the region he calls home.

With deep roots in the area and a clear vision for the future, Mr. Paull is eager to help Sto-Rox grow stronger. He sees his role as not only building systems and curriculum, but also nurturing a sense of pride, collaboration, and possibility that will carry the district into the years ahead.
