Sto-Rox Upper Elementary (SRUE) celebrated Black History Month by welcoming inspiring guest speakers from the Sto-Rox community. Over the course of two afternoons, students listened to powerful stories shared by dedicated leaders, alumni, and community members.
SRUE welcomed several distinguished guests, including Sto-Rox alumni, local business owners, influential Black leaders from within the district, and members of district leadership, including Superintendent Mrs. Sonya Coleman and Athletic Director Mr. Shomari Phelps. Each speaker shared their personal journey, candidly speaking about the obstacles they have faced, the successes they have achieved, and the lessons they have learned along the way.
Students were highly engaged during both events, asking thoughtful questions and drawing connections between their own experiences and the stories being shared. Through honest conversations about perseverance, accountability, resilience, and the power of positive choices, students gained valuable insight into what it takes to overcome challenges and pursue their goals.
Sto-Rox Upper Elementary extends its sincere gratitude to all of the guest speakers who invested their time and experiences to educate, empower, and inspire the next generation.
