Sto-Rox Unified Bocce Team Wins Pittsburgh Division Championship

Congratulations to the Sto-Rox Unified Bocce Team on winning the Pittsburgh Division Championship, an incredible accomplishment and a moment our entire Sto-Rox community can celebrate.

Sto-Rox was also proud to host the Unified Bocce Division Playoffs for the Pittsburgh Division, making this victory even more meaningful. Competing on their home court, our student-athletes demonstrated determination, teamwork, and outstanding sportsmanship from start to finish.

The team entered the playoffs with a 6-4 regular season record and was ranked fourth out of four teams. Undeterred by their seeding, Sto-Rox rose to the challenge in impressive fashion. In the first round, they defeated the number one seed, Conroy/CAPA. They carried that momentum into the championship match, defeating the number two seed, Taylor Allderdice, to secure the Pittsburgh Division title.

Unified Bocce is part of Special Olympics Unified Sports, a program that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to compete on the same team. The program promotes inclusion, builds friendships, and fosters respect and understanding among students of all abilities. Through teamwork and shared goals, Unified Sports creates meaningful experiences both on and off the court.

The Sto-Rox Unified Bocce Team exemplified the true spirit of Unified Sports this season, proving that success is built on unity, perseverance, and belief in one another.

The team will now advance to the Regional Championships on Tuesday, March 3, at the Rize Sports Gym in Leetsdale as they continue their remarkable postseason run.

A special thank you goes to Head Coach Lauren Ferragonio, Assistant Coach and Referee Ms. Shyanne Rippole, the Sto-Rox Athletic Department, and the entire Sto-Rox community for believing in our students.

We are incredibly proud of this team and the way they represented Sto-Rox. Congratulations to our Pittsburgh Division Champions, and best of luck at Regionals!
