Now that the 2024-25 school year is over and summer break has arrived, special programming is getting started in Sto-Rox. Please review the 2025 Sto-Rox Summer Programming Guide, organized by district social worker and therapist Alex Gariepy. This guide includes information on our summer programming providers, from Steel City Impact to Focus on Renewal and everyone in between.

Friday Open Gym Sessions

  • Must be a Sto Rox student to participate

Pittsburgh Area Communities in School Summer Series
The following programs will be offered over the summer by the PACS team at the Sto Rox School District:

  • First Tee Club

  • Kulture Dance Club

  • Summer Flag Football

  • Pretty Girl University

Three Rivers Youth: Crossing Bridges Program

  • 7th-12th

  • 6 weeks (T, W, TH) at the Jr/Sr Hs

  • Participation Stipend

  • Students must already be enrolled with TRY 


Summer Mental Health Resources

The following mental health services will be offered over the summer at the Sto Rox School District:

  • MHY Family Services (uninsured)

  • Infinite Lifestyle Solutions (uninsured)

Job Opportunities & Internships

Work Permits

  • Location: Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Main Office (1105 Valley St. Mckees Rocks, PA 15136)

  • Time: 7am-2pm, M-F

  • Parent/Guardian must be present

  • Copy of birth certificate required

Learn & Earn
The Learn & Earn Summer Youth Employment Program (Learn & Earn) is designed to provide meaningful work experiences and career exposure to low-income young adults ages 14-24, residing in Allegheny County. The deadline to sign up is June 6th, 2025, and students must provide the following documents:

  • Work permit

  • Social security card

  • Birth certificate

  • Family income information

Neighborhood Learning Alliance: HSU Summer 

STEP UP Program
The skills training and employment pathways for unlocking potential.

  • Rising 10th Graders

  • Paid experience

  • Free bus pass

Careers Unlocked Program

  • Ages 16-18

  • Paid experience

  • Explore career paths and internships (Medical, Business, IT, Electronics/Robotics)

Food Distributions

Sto Rox Summer Meal Program
Breakfast (8-10am) and lunch (11-1pm) will be available for the community at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School every Monday through Friday, until Friday, August 22nd.
