Learn & Earn Summer Youth Employment Program -Accepting Applications for 2026

The Learn & Earn Summer Youth Employment Program provides meaningful summer job opportunities to youth ages 14-23. Residents of the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County are eligible to apply. Applicants must have:

  • Proof of Address (Dated within the last 6 months)

  • Proof of total Household Income (Dated within the last 6 months)

  • Proof of Age

  • Proof of Social Security

  • Proof of Social Citizenship/Alien status

  • Have or create an email address

Learn & Earn helps young people build skills, gain experience, and explore career pathways through a three-tier model:

  • Tier 1: Career Exploration (Ages 14) - Participants engage in up to 100 hours of work-readiness training and career exploration. Youth build foundational skills such as communication, professionalism, and problem-solving while exploring different industries through workshops, job shadowing, and tours.

  • Tier 2: Work Experience (Ages 15-19) - Youth are placed at worksites where they can complete up to 120 hours of paid work experience. Participants gain real-world job skills, take on workplace responsibilities, and connect with professionals in fields of interest.

  • Tier 3: Advancement (Ages 20-23) - This tier supports young adults preparing for full-time employment. Participants may complete up to 150 hours of industry training that can lead to certifications, apprenticeships, or job placement opportunities.

Important Dates:

  • Application Period: March 2 - June 5, 2026

  • Youth Placements: April 1 - July 2, 2026

  • Program Dates:

    • Tier 1 & 2: June 22 - August 7, 2026

    • Tier 3: June 1 - August 31, 2026

  • Orientation: Determined by provider participation
