The following is a letter from Interim Superintendent Erwin Weischedel regarding an upcoming lockdown drill at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School. Please read it or download it here.
Dear Sto-Rox Community,
As the 2024-25 School Year comes to a close, Sto-Rox School District remains committed to keeping our schools safe and secure. This May, the district will hold a lockdown drill, including a K-9 officer sweep, at the Jr./Sr. High School. The district will not disclose the exact date and time beforehand. We want to ensure our security protocols are followed, and that students and staff react as they would if a lockdown and security sweep took place in real time.
District leadership, including Director of School Safety Michael Pietragallo, is working with local law enforcement to coordinate this drill in accordance with our Emergency Preparedness Plan. We also believe this is an opportunity to promote a positive relationship between law enforcement and the people they serve - our students and staff. Once the drill is completed, a report on the drill will be presented to the School Board of Directors Safety and Technology Committee.
The district will also communicate information about this drill via phone, our website, our social media channels, and other related means. Please monitor district communications for any additional updates. The district and its security team are constantly working to make our schools safe and secure, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue this effort.
Sincerely,
Dr. Erwin Weischedel
Interim Superintendent
