The Sto-Rox School Board on Thursday evening welcomed new, yet familiar faces to new roles in the district. What follows is a brief recap of the second and final school board meeting of January 2024. Click through for details!

A Sto-Rox teacher with a sportswriting background is putting his passion to the forefront in a new book. Chris Scarnati, who teaches English Language Arts to 6th graders at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary, recently published his first book, “Fighting Till The End,” about McKees Rocks world champion boxer Paul Spadafora.

UPDATE, 10:53 a.m. 1/19/24: With today’s snow expected to taper off this afternoon, and after conferring with Keystone Oaks, we are planning to host tonight’s boys basketball games between Sto-Rox and Keystone Oaks. JV tip-off is 6:00 p.m., while the Varsity game is set for 7:30.

UPDATE, 5:15 a.m., 1/17/24: Sto-Rox School District will close its buildings on Wednesday, January 17 and hold a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) for the second day in a row. Parents/guardians, please plan accordingly. The safety of your children is our highest priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we deal with wintry weather, especially the bitter cold.

The Sto-Rox School Board of Directors meetings for 2024 will be held on the following dates (all Thursdays) at 7:00 p.m. in the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria located at 1105 Valley Street, McKees Rocks, PA 15136, unless otherwise noted on the meeting schedule. Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School will host representatives from the Pittsburgh Child Advocacy Center of UPMC Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, January 17. The representatives will present information on topics ranging from internet safety to cyberbullying to 8th graders.

Sto-Rox School District schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. During this holiday, people are encouraged to participate in a day of service to honor Dr. King and his contributions to the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.
