This evening, an odor was detected in the athletic and music wing of Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School. No gas was detected by Columbia Gas during their inspection of the building. However, in order to ensure the well-being of our Jr./Sr. High School students and staff, we have decided to conduct virtual learning for students in grades 7-12 tomorrow (Friday), January 5, 2024. The Sto-Rox Vikings Boys Varsity Basketball Team will hit the road on Wednesday, January 3 to take on Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH). Sto-Rox School District continues to make excellent progress in year two of its five-year, state recovery plan. The district entered into the plan in April of 2022. In the 18 months since, the district has completed 63% of the action items on the recovery plan have been completed. Click through for more details.

On Friday, December 15, Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School held an A.L.I.C.E. drill. As we shared with you in September, A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. The A.L.I.C.E. plan, and Friday’s drill, are part of our comprehensive effort to keep both students and staff safe during adverse events within the school and community.

The unmistakeable sounds of holiday music filled the air in Downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon. This music wasn’t supplied by Spotify or the radio, though. Instead, it was the Sto-Rox Band and Chorus, live and in-person at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
