A longtime crossing guard was honored, a budget was preliminarily passed, and a new principal was named for the Jr./Sr. High School. Those were just a few of the issues discussed and voted upon Thursday night during a meeting of the Sto-Rox School Board.

Students performed on stage and showed off their artistic pursuits Thursday at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School. The Spring Concert for the middle and high school band and choral groups was held in the auditorium.

The Sto-Rox School District continues to engage the parents and families of students, and as this school year winds down, we want to hear from them. We want to know how parents and caregivers feel about district activities, school atmosphere, their student’s teachers and administrators, communication, and more.

52,589 pennies - or - $525.89. That’s how many pennies Sto-Rox Upper Elementary students raised for their upcoming Sneaker Ball on Friday, May 19 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

“It’s a very simple concept: just be kind.”

Those words, once spoken by the late Sto-Rox teacher Terry Spencer and repeated during a memorial service Tuesday afternoon, echoed in the minds of teachers, students, family and friends gathered in front of Sto-Rox Upper Elementary.

Future Sto-Rox Kindergarteners officially signed up for the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday at Sto-Rox Primary Center. Children and their families toured the Primary Center and got a sneak peek at the Kindergarten classrooms they’ll be joining next fall.

The sounds of budding music stars filled the Sto-Rox Upper Elementary gymnasium on Thursday, as the SRUE Band and SRUE Chorus performed their Spring Concert. The performances delighted families, staff and fellow students who gathered in the gym to watch.

As part of its continuing effort to address a variety of challenges faced by the Sto-Rox School District, the board of school directors successfully reached agreements with not one, but two of its work groups: teachers and Act 93 administrators.

One of Sto-Rox’s teachers is up for an award from The Education Partnership, a valued district partner. Shyanne Rippole, an English teacher at the Jr./Sr. High School, is in the running for the Rookie Teacher of the Year! Voting for the award is open, and will run until Friday May 19 until 5:00 p.m.
