Easter eggs were hunted, snow cones were eaten and a lot of fun was had Tuesday evening at Sto-Rox Primary Center. The SRPC/SRUE Title I Event for April featured the Easter Bunny, reading and math activities, and much more.

A student assistance initiative by the Sto-Rox School District and two of its partner agencies was examined Sunday on the KDKA-TV program “Intersections.” SRSD Social District Worker Alex Gariepy and Implementation Specialist Sydney Dominick were invited to speak with “Intersections” host Lisa Smith about the Vikings Den resource room.

As it turned out, that was just fine with the Sto-Rox Girls Flag Football Team.

On Sunday, the brand-new squad took the field at Acrisure Stadium for a scrimmage against Oakland Catholic and won, 13-0.

A gateway to understanding the human body is available in the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy Technology, or SMARTT, program at Parkway West Career & Technology Center. Students who enroll in this program learn knowledge and skills that will translate into leading careers in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and exercise physiology.

Students and staff at all three Sto-Rox schools are currently under a modified lockdown out of an abundance of caution. Unsubstantiated threats have been made against local school districts, and while the district believes there is no immediate danger, we are taking every possible precaution. The Sto-Rox Vikings Baseball game at Beaver Falls that was set for Thursday, March 30 has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 10.

The district is dismissing students from Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School early today; a broken pipe forced us to turn off the water to the building. Additionally, all after-school activities are canceled. The Primary Center and Upper Elementary School will dismiss at their normal times.
