“Why not you?”

It’s a simple yet poignant question that was asked of Sto-Rox High School students on Thursday. Several students were honored by The Challenge Program, and were given the opportunity to take part in the program’s “Student of the Year” contest.

Students, teachers, and staff at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School will have a chance to put on their best face for the camera when Picture Day takes place on Tuesday, October 18th at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Sto-Rox School District will provide transportation to Friday’s game at Brentwood. A ‘fan bus’ will leave Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School NO LATER THAN 5:45 p.m., so please arrive early and park in the lower lot (at Dale and Rosamond Streets). Each bus pass will cost five dollars, and passes will be sold during lunchtime at the Jr./Sr. High School. You must have a ticket to get on the bus. The driver will not accept cash. The cost to get into the game at Brentwood is separate.

Sto-Rox students recently got a taste of careers in hi-tech manufacturing in their own backyard. A group from Sto-Rox went to Manufacturing Day 2022 at Mill 19 in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood. Students met with people who specialize in advanced manufacturing, from welding and robotics to computer programming.

Sto-Rox Vikings Head Coach Marvin Mills was honored Monday by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the winner of the team’s High School Coach of the Week Award.

She was born and raised in McKees Rocks. She’s a product of Sto-Rox School District from Kindergarten straight through to her high school diploma. Now, she’s working at a nationally-renowned hospital for women in the Steel City.

Join us Friday night for Sto-Rox Football! The Vikings will host Washington with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. It will be Military Night - and the Vikings will wear special camouflage jerseys provided by the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

As part of the Voluntary Lead in Child Care and School Drinking Water Testing Program, the district had its water tested by Allegheny Global Environmental. We can report that there are no issues at any of the taps in our district, but please read on for more details.

You are invited to our meetings to learn about Title I and Parent and Family Engagement. Title I supplies funding for our schools to provide additional help to students in the areas of Reading and/or Math. At these meetings, we will talk about our Title I program and will be available to answer questions you might have.
