Sto-Rox Hires New Superintendent, Adds Curriculum Director

The Sto-Rox School Board of Directors made two key decisions at its board meeting on Thursday night to enhance district leadership for the long-term. First, Sonya Crues-Coleman was hired as District Superintendent, concluding a search in collaboration with Devopar Consulting that started in February.

Crues-Coleman has worked in education for more than 20 years, building a reputation of improving student performance and ensuring instructional excellence. She currently serves as the Chief of Schools for STEM Preparatory Academy in Nashville, TN.

Crues-Coleman is no stranger to the region; she graduated from East High School in Youngstown, OH. She later became Chief of Schools in the Youngstown City School District after serving as a district principal and Chief of Secondary Education.

School directors also hired Anthony Paull (at right) for a newly-created role: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. This role will support the superintendent in the implementation of curriculum, planning of assessments, and coordination of services.

The role will be familiar to Paull, who has been the Director of Curriculum & Assessment for the South Side Area School District in Beaver County since 2022. Paull, a South Hills native, started his career as a science teacher before serving as a principal in the West Greene and South Side Area school districts.

Both Crues-Coleman and Paull will start on July 1, 2025. Media questions should be directed to Dan Rinkus, Communications Specialist, at 412-738-5213 or drinkus@srsd.k12.pa.us.
