Media Advisory: Sto-Rox Senior Walk Set For Monday, May 19

Sto-Rox seniors will be cheered on by teachers and students - everyone from Kindergarteners to high schoolers - as they take one final walk through the district. Media are invited to cover the Sto-Rox Senior Walk on Monday, May 19, which will feature students waving handmade signs, lots of hi-fives and hugs, and tons of Viking Pride.

NOTE: Parents/guardians, this is an in-school event. Photos and videos will be posted to the district’s website and social media channels following its completion.

Dozens of Sto-Rox seniors will don their graduation caps and gowns to walk through Sto-Rox Primary Center (Grades K-3), Sto-Rox Upper Elementary (4-6), and Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School, accompanied by the Sto-Rox Viking Marching Band Drumline. This tradition, started in 2017 by Jr./Sr. High School Spanish Teacher Ben Engelhard, is often emotional and inspiring. Underclassmen get an opportunity to see seniors on the cusp of graduation, while those same seniors get to say one final good-bye to the buildings they grew up in and the people they grew up with.

Students will assemble at the Jr./Sr. High School at 9:00 a.m. and will be transported to the Upper Elementary by 9:30 a.m. Students will walk through the Upper Elementary and the neighboring Primary Center before boarding school buses to return to the Jr./Sr. High School, where they will walk through the halls and end in the Auditorium for an ‘exit interview’ and pep talk from administrators.
