The Sto-Rox School District hosted its annual Back-to-School Celebration on Friday, August 15, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jr./Sr. High School. This lively community event brought together families, district staff, and community partners for one final summer gathering before the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Families and students enjoyed a variety of free offerings, including food, school supplies, book bags, and more. Students prepared for the upcoming school year with free haircuts and nail painting, while other activities—such as henna, inflatables, and face painting—kept everyone entertained.
Sto-Rox Upper Elementary hosted a table with coloring activities and cookies for students, with representation from both the Primary Center and Upper Elementary Schools. Throughout the celebration, staff members walked around greeting families, and the new Superintendent, Mrs. Sonya Coleman, took time to meet families and connect with community partners.
The event was made possible thanks to the support of community partners. Organizations such as First Tee and the Boy Scouts of America set up tables to connect with families, while local resources like T-T’s ToyBox Daycare, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Common Threads offered valuable information and support. A highlight for many was the American Heart Association, which provided a short CPR training session, giving families a chance to learn this important, life-saving skill.
A special thank you goes to all the community partners and generous sponsors who made the event possible:
