District Awarded $75,000 Grant for STEM-Related Programming and More

Sto-Rox School District was recently awarded $75,000 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to support its programming and teachers. The grant was part of more than $10 million awarded to schools across the commonwealth. The money was part of “PAsmart Advancing Grants for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that expand access to computer science and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education for learners across the Commonwealth,” according to a news release from PDE.

In Sto-Rox, the grant money will support three things in particular:

  • 2 years of the district’s work with the STEM/Coding Partnership

  • The creation of a maker space room at the Primary Center (modeled after the current maker space at the Upper Elementary)

  • STEM certification for two-to-three Sto-Rox teahcers

Thanks to PDE for their continued support of the district! We are excited to continue our work of getting young learners excited about STEM, coding, maker spaces, and so much more.
