One of Sto-Rox’s best and brightest football players is being honored in a first-of-its-kind effort by the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Mentoring Partnership and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Sto-Rox School District administration is saddened to learn that one of our students was injured during an incident that occurred on Saturday evening.  We hope our student makes a full recovery.    

For the third straight year, WPIAL and Pittsburgh Public Schools, along with Students First, are holding a food and fund drive supporting the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Sto-Rox residents are encouraged to donate to the food bank through this online fundraiser.

Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School students represented their district in Harrisburg recently. District social worker Alexandria Gariepy and School Counselor Joe Herzing took a group of students to the state capitol to advocate for mental health reform and policy that affects students in Sto-Rox and across the commonwealth.

The Sto-Rox School District has reached a new five-year contract agreement with the Sto-Rox Education Support Professionals Association (SRESPA). This agreement was ratified Thursday evening by the Sto-Rox School Board of Directors.

Food was dished out and dozens of Sto-Rox families were served Wednesday night at Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria. The district held a ‘Community Dinner’ Title I event to bring together students, their families and neighbors with food, educational activities and participation from community partners.

If you climb the stairs to the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Chorus room on a given day during the fall semester, you won’t hear printing. Instead, you’ll hear the nearly imperceptible thrum made by one of several 3D printers along the far wall.

Sto-Rox students in grades K-6 will be able to have their school pictures taken in a few short weeks. Picture Days will be held in early November; the Upper Elementary will have pictures taken on Tuesday, November 7 starting at 8:45 a.m; the Primary Center will have pictures taken on Thursday, November 9 starting at 8:45 a.m.
