A new era in local youth football will start Wednesday, September 6 when the new Sto-Rox Middle School Football Team hosts its first regular season game. The Vikings will play host to South Park at 4:00 p.m. at the Jr./Sr. High School Football Stadium.

The Sto-Rox Vikings Football Team started the season on the road at Steel Valley on Friday night. While the Vikings played hard, they fell to the Ironmen by a score of 35-0. Check out photos from the Sto-Rox/Steel Valley game below:

A new school year is underway, and the Sto-Rox Marching Band is getting down to business. Rehearsals will be held Mondays and Thursdays after school, at the Jr./Sr. High School. The first rehearsal is set for Thursday, August 31.

Sto-Rox students got an early school year surprise on Wednesday when employees of Brewer Airport Toyota dropped by the Sto-Rox Primary Center. They teamed up with the Kids in Need Foundation (KINF) to deliver more than 400 donated backpacks filled with school supplies.

They help our children learn and grow both inside and outside the classroom, and now WTAE-TV Channel 4 is saluting teachers every month from September through May. WTAE’s new Teacher of the Month recognition program will take nominations from students, parents, colleagues or even the teacher in question.

We are all aware of the possible dangers that our children and schools face daily.  In an effort to keep all of our children safe, the Sto-Rox School District has adopted a new strategy for lockdown procedures known as the A.L.I.C.E. plan. Click through for more information.

Sto-Rox students returned to the classroom on Monday, August 28 at the Primary Center, Upper Elementary and Jr./Sr. High School buildings. The district is so glad to have all of our students back - and - the chance to welcome Kindergarteners and the rest of our new students. The Sto-Rox School Board met last Thursday for its final meeting of August - and the final meeting before Sto-Rox students head back to school. Read on for a brief recap of the meeting and click here for the complete agenda.

The Sto-Rox School District will hold its open houses ahead of the 2023-2024 school year from Tuesday, August 22 through Thursday, August 24. Transportation will be provided for the Primary Center and Upper Elementary Open Houses. The Primary Center Open House will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22. The Upper Elementary Open House will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23. Click through for the pickup times for both of those open houses. Be sure to arrive five minutes early to make sure you make the bus!

Two Sto-Rox schools - the Primary Center and Upper Elementary - will receive a combined $38,000 from the federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This funding will help Sto-Rox School District provide more fresh fruits and vegetables.
