Sto-Rox School District has rescheduled ceremonies to celebrate student achievements during the second nine weeks of the school year. All parents are invited to attend ceremonies taking place on Friday, January 27.

Four Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School student-musicians performed Tuesday with a band of all-stars from across the region. Haley Corcoran, Evie Nagel, Marc Brown and Omar Greene represented Sto-Rox on the Western Allegheny County Area (WACA) Honors Band.

Sto-Rox students who took part in the NEED Mentoring Program visited the Allegheny Intermediate Unit in Homestead on Thursday. A project meeting was held to discuss the NEED-sponsored program “Sustainable Pathways to African-American Teachers.

Two outgoing members of the Sto-Rox Vikings Football Team will continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. Deigo Ellis and Jaymont Green-Miller both committed to local state universities whose teams play in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The Sto-Rox School Board on Thursday night held its first meeting of 2023, and with it introduced a few new faces in new positions. This Agenda Review Meeting also featured updates on a slate of programs and issues for board members to consider.

Sto-Rox Athletics legend Bill Palermo has notched another honor: He’ll be inducted into the WPIAL Hall of Fame.

A local mentorship program will be coming to Sto-Rox Upper Elementary this semester, and time is running out to enroll. Strong Women, Strong Girls will work with 4th and 5th graders at the Upper Elementary. The deadline to register is Friday, January 27.

Sto-Rox School District today honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a preeminent figure in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Our schools are closed in observance of this federal holiday, and people are encouraged to participate in a day of service.

A video show-and-tell took place Thursday in Julie Himmelstein’s class at the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School Library. Seventh graders showed off their video projects, which they worked on in conjunction with the Point Park University Center for Media Innovation, the Gazette 2.0, and several guest facilitators.
