The Sto-Rox Youth Partnership is a platform for youth
program leaders, school employees, businesses and other community members to
collaborate, in order to improve the lives and futures of our children. By
identifying existing resources and coordinating our efforts, we systematically
address issues that adversely affect the wellbeing of Sto-Rox youth, using
data-driven metrics to guide our progress. Together, we are better equipped to
confront and improve the pervasive problems of poverty, crime, and
disenfranchisement that too frequently affect the lives of our kids.
Originally formed as a partnership between
The Sto-Rox School District, Communities In Schools-Pittsburgh/Allegheny
County, and the McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation, the Partnership
has developed into a growing collective of local organizations and
individual partners from the surrounding neighborhoods coming
together to implement strategies and programming that will directly impact
students and families across the region.
To make it all happen, Bryan
McCarthy ([email protected] ) is at the Sto-Rox Primary Center and Upper
Elementary and Shallegra Moye ( [email protected]
) at the Sto-Rox Jr./Sr. High School. Please feel free to reach out to them to find out how to get involved!
Focusing on a creating a healthy and fruitful
learning environment for all students, both in and out of school, as well as
community engagement efforts like The Runestone, the group is
eager to continue working together to build on the tremendous organizational
efforts already taking place throughout the Sto-Rox Community.
