Sto-Rox Junior/Senior High School partners with Comcast and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Western Pennsylvania to bring a mentoring program to students in grades 7-9. Students are paired with employees of Comcast who volunteer to serve as Bigs for the students who are selected for this program.
During the shool year, students travel to the Comcast headquarters and spend lunchtime with their Bigs. BBBS provides a program for the students and Bigs to interact and have fun every other Friday. Special programs are held around the holidays which provide our students with entertainment, learning and special guests.
On occasion, Bigs will come to the JSHS to spend lunchtime with their students. Certain Bigs and students will meet outside of the school through the BBBS Community based program.
At the end of the year, Comcast employees, Bigs and students take part in Comcast Cares Day here at the JSHS. Service projects are carried out across the school with the help of students, teachers, staff and all participants in the program.
